Periodicals Move to Storage Project - Completed

Check full post for details.

Thank you to all Gelman patrons for your patience and understanding during the now completed Periodicals Move to Storage Project.

Some 22,395 volumes were removed from the 3rd floor in just 3 weeks with the cooperation, assistance, and support of many Gelman staff.  Brooks Brothers did the heavy work of packing and shipping. WRLC’s extra staff is now completing their processing work. This means that all the volumes sent should be available for CLS and ILL by June 5.

The other portion of this project was to move out serials titles originally identified by the Collection Development Librarians as those which should be sent to Iron Mountain for storage. Over 200 titles were transferred to WRLC, also completing this project early.

Sometime before June 19 the 2005 GW theses will be moved to WRLC storage along with the 754 volume set of the Pre-56 National Union Catalog. After that plans for redistributing volumes in Periodicals and the 4th and 5th stacks floors will be made. I expect that you will see improvement by the time classes begin in the fall.

If you have questions, please contact Jean Pec at jpec@gwu.edu. Again, thank you for your patience and understanding.
