Find a Course Reserve

Find a Course Reserve                             watchit2_r1_c1.gif

Use it for: Finding a book at that your professor has reserved for your class.

Why use it? Because you won’t find those books on the regular shelves.

Step 1
Start at the top right of any Gelman Library website page. Making sure the Catalog tab is selected, click on the Advanced Search link.

Step 2
Click on "Course Reserves." You can search by professor's name, department or course by clicking on the pull-down menu and scrolling to GW listings.

Step 3
From the list of results write down the call number and notice the type of reserve. Two-hour reserve is the most common: that means you can read the book for two hours in the library, and make copies, but you can’t take it outside.

Step 4
Take the call number to the Circulation Desk, and the staff will get the book for you.

Step 5
Make sure to return the book to the Circulation Desk, either to the Reserves book drop or directly to the staff. Fines are $1.20 per hour! If you need to keep the book longer, you can check it out again, if nobody else needs it.
