Eckles Library
Who is that tall man in Eckles?
Yep, it's Barack-soon-to-be-president-Obama! Perhaps you didn't know it, but he hangs out here all the time. He'll be here through next Tuesday because we've got a little thing called Inaugural Fever!!
Here's a pic of our buddy Barack hanging out with always awesome Eckles staff members, Gary Williams, John Danneker and Bill Gillis.
One of those guys may not look familiar to you (I sure hope it isn't Barack!). Bill Gillis is our brand new Librarian here at Eckles. In fact, he is so new he still has that new-librarian smell! Come see for yourself! He'd love to meet you.
We've Got Inaugural Fever
We've got INAUGURAL FEVER and we've got it bad! Stop by Eckles for tons of inaugural fun during this, the inaugural week of the Spring semester. Here's a little taste of what you'll find:
Lighting the Presidents - An fascinating display of lighting fixtures inspired by American Presidents and designed by Professor Erin Speck's Lighting Design class in the Interior Design Department.
Presidential Books & Flix - We don’t yet know how history will judge President Obama, but check out these books and films highlighting the accomplishments and
failures of our past (or fictional) presidents.
We’re Inaugurating a New Librarian! - We’ve got a brand new member of the Eckles team! Bill Gillis is here to help you with all of your reference needs. Stop by to say “hello” and welcome him to the Vern or for help starting that next paper.
Welcome Back!
Happy first day of your Spring semester! It was sure quiet around here without you so we're really happy you've returned!
Just a little note: The hours are a little different than you are used to for this first week of school. We will close at 10pm today through Friday. Why? Well, because our student staff needs a little time to get back in the swing of things and you weren't going to be studying that late anyway. Also, we will be closed on Monday, Jan. 19 to observe MLK Day and Tuesday, Jan. 20 to stand in the freezing cold on the Mall with 4 million of our closest friends.
Finals at Eckles

2) Free Coffee, Cappuccino and Hot Chocolate. Yum. You still have to bring your own cup, but coffee is on us from Dec. 10th through Dec. 20th.
