- U.S. Geological Survey Maps
- The Gelman Library has a fairly extensive set of holdings of maps generated by the United States Geological Survey. The maps are arrranged by country, then state or region, and then by call number. These maps are located in the back of the Gelman Library Reference Section.
- U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency
- The Gelman Library has numerous maps created by the United States National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, formerly known as the Defense Mapping Agency. These maps are housed in the Reference Section of the Gelman Library. These maps are currently housed in map cases in the Reference Area.
- Other Governmental Agency Maps
- In addition to the holdings of USGS maps, Gelman holds maps generated by other agencies of both the United States, such as by the U.S. State Department, the U.S. Census, as well as by other national governments and their official agencies. These maps are currently located in the Gelman Library Reference Section.
- Rare Map Collection
- The Special Collections Research Center holds an extensive set of antiquarian and rare maps. Two collections in particular are of note: the Washingtoniana Map Collection (SCRC Collection Map 00001) and the Samuel Halperin and Henry Epstein Maps of the Holyland Collection (SCRC Collection Map 00002). All of the maps in Special Collections are individually cataloged. Maps in the two collections listed above can also be found by using the online finding aids to the rare map collections.
- Real Estate and Insurance Maps
- The Special Collections Research Center holds a number of sets of real estate and fire insurance maps and atlases from the late 19th and first half of the 20th Century.
