Library Exhibits

MISSION:

The Gelman Library Exhibits Program was created to showcase and celebrate its strengths as a learning center, highlight its many local, national and international collections, and the research topics pursued by its individual departments. Exhibits are also displayed in conjunction with academic lectures, Library functions, collections receptions and related events.

PROPOSALS:

The Exhibits Program also seeks to establish, promote and strengthen the Gelman Library's community presence. To that end, we welcome any proposal for an exhibition. To propose an exhibit:

  • Fill out the online Exhibit Proposal Form in its entirety, emailing the completed form to Gelman Library's Exhibits Committee.
  • The Exhibits Committee will review each proposal and approve (or decline) the proposal within two weeks of submission.
  • Approved exhibits will be developed in conjunction between the proposers and Exhibits Developer Phil Raino, raino@gelman.gwu.edu.

POLICY:

Gelman Library's Exhibits Policy provides information about the Exhibit Committee's selection process, roles and responsibilities in the exhibit process, and guiding rights and principles.

LOAN AGREEMENTS:

Used after an Exhibit Proposal is approved, the Library's Loan Agreement includes both a list of exhibited items and support materials to be temporarily used by the Library, and the agreement language that delineates the responsibilities and rights of both parties.
